Business Performance Manager in Marchwood

Do you have experience driving performance in a fast-paced warehouse, logistics or fulfilment environment? Are you highly analytical, KPI-driven, and confident using Warehouse Management System data, ideally Blue Yonder, to identify practical ways to improve productivity and performance?

We are looking for a proactive and data-driven Business Performance Manager to join our team at DIL’s Southampton warehouse. This role will play a key part in driving productivity, accuracy and cost-to-serve improvements across our AEO-accredited, customs bonded warehouse, by owning our KPI framework end-to-end from defining and monitoring measures through to identifying gaps and driving clear, measurable action.

Working closely with the Head of Operations and Systems and wider stakeholders across Finance and Senior Leadership, you will turn data and insight into action, challenge performance where required, and hold shift management accountable for delivering sustainable improvements across the warehouse.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Define, track, and report on warehouse KPIs including productivity, accuracy, on-time despatch, cost per unit, labour efficiency, and service performance.
• Review how our Blue Yonder Warehouse Management System is currently configured and used and identify practical ways to use its data and functionality to drive productivity and performance improvement.
• Work with the Head of Operations and Head of Finance to ensure all operational KPIs are clearly aligned to budget, cost-to-serve, and wider business objectives.
• Build and maintain performance dashboards and reporting that give clear, timely visibility of performance against target and budget.
• Translate budget and P&L targets into practical, day-to-day operational KPIs that shift management and teams can understand and act on.
• Identify performance gaps and root causes quickly, using data and operational insight to determine the right corrective action.
• Lead structured performance reviews with shift management, challenging underperformance, agreeing actions, and ensuring they are completed to timescale.
• Hold individuals and teams accountable for delivering agreed performance standards, having direct, constructive conversations where required.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives that eliminate waste, reduce errors, and make processes quicker and easier to execute.
• Monitor labour and operational costs against budget, identifying and escalating variances early and recommending corrective action.
• Build effective relationships with Finance, Senior Leadership, and Operations to ensure performance priorities are understood and aligned.
• Provide clear, concise performance updates, highlighting results, risks, trends, and improvement actions.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company operating procedures.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A proven track record driving performance in a fast-paced warehouse, logistics or fulfilment environment – ideally in a role focused specifically on KPIs, performance management, or continuous improvement, rather than general operations.
• Essential: Hands-on, advanced working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), specifically Blue Yonder, with the ability to use system data and functionality to drive and support operational performance decisions.
• A highly analytical, data-literate approach, with a proven ability to set and implement KPI targets and to monitor and manage warehouse productivity rates to deliver measurable improvement.
• A strong grasp of how operational KPIs link to budget and cost-to-serve.
• Confidence in holding individuals and teams accountable for performance, including having direct, constructive conversations when expectations or standards are not met.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proven ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
• The ability to respond quickly to changing operational demands and priorities.
