We are looking for a detail-driven and collaborative Part-Time Payroll Officer to join our Human Resource department to manage the smooth delivery of our payroll operations.

The Role

As Payroll Officer, you will be the sole contributor in preparing, processing, and reconciling payroll information to ensure timely and accurate payments for all employees. Working closely with HR and Finance, you will handle day-to-day payroll queries and maintain robust, compliant payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, process, and check payroll changes such as new starters, leavers, contractual changes, and pay adjustments.
  • Ensure accurate input of hours, overtime, bonuses, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.).
  • Maintain payroll records and manage both a monthly and weekly payroll cycle.
  • Respond to payroll queries from employees and managers with professionalism and clarity.
  • Liaise with HR and Finance to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage year-end payroll processes including P60s, P11Ds, and HMRC reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and company policies.
  • Assist with continual improvement of payroll procedures and internal controls.

About You

  • Previous experience in a payroll role is essential - knowledge of SD Worx Payroll/HR would be an advantage, but is not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes and UK payroll legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a part-time capacity.
  • Confident with payroll systems and Microsoft systems in particular with excellent Excel skills.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
