A Day in the Life and the Impact You'll Make As a Project Controller, you'll provide independent cost, schedule, forecasting, risk and performance control across assigned projects or portfolios. You'll work closely with Project Managers and senior stakeholders to provide reliable financial and operational information, constructive challenge and early warning of potential risks, helping ensure projects remain controlled, predictable and commercially sound. What You'll Do • Establish and maintain project baselines covering cost, schedule, resources and key deliverables.• Monitor actual performance against plan, identify trends and provide clear variance analysis and recommendations.• Prepare forecasts, estimate-at-completion positions, cash-flow views, billing profiles and management reports.• Support Project Managers with budget control, revenue and margin visibility, work-in-progress, accruals and invoicing accuracy.• Maintain integrated risk, opportunity, issue and change-control information, assessing potential cost and schedule impacts.• Review project data quality, challenge assumptions and ensure corrective actions have clear owners and deadlines.• Support governance reviews, project health checks, stage gates and escalation of material commercial or delivery risks.• Coordinate financial and performance information with Finance, Sales, Operations, Consulting and resource-planning teams.• Drive timely project closure, final invoicing, cost reconciliation and lessons learned.• Contribute to standardisation, automation and continuous improvement of project-control processes and reporting. What You'll Bring • Relevant experience in project controls, project finance, cost control, planning or commercial project support.• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving capability, with a high standard of data accuracy.• Practical knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, revenue, margin, invoicing and change control.• Ability to translate complex project information into concise management insight and recommended actions.• Confidence to constructively challenge project teams and escalate material risks with evidence.• Advanced spreadsheet and reporting capability.• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across different functions. Nice to Have • Experience with ERP, planning or business intelligence systems.• Knowledge of earned value or schedule controls.• Relevant professional qualifications in project controls, finance, planning or a related discipline.• Experience working within a PMO or structured project governance environment.
