As a Junior Political Content Editor, you will support coverage of UK and EU politics, helping ensure our written work is accurate, clear, and engaging. You will work closely with the Group Political Content Editor and have the opportunity to begin commissioning and shaping coverage. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong writing skills, a good understanding of politics, and a keen interest in producing high-quality political intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Copy edit biographies, reports on sessions of the UK Parliament, devolved assemblies, and European institutions.
  • Edit longer policy notes, briefings, and other written outputs to ensure clarity, accuracy, and readability.
  • Provide constructive feedback to colleagues to improve the quality of their writing.
  • Meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of content.
  • Support the Group Political Content Editor in shaping coverage and developing content strategy.
  • Begin commissioning pieces and supporting the expansion of political coverage.
  • Explore the use of AI tools for research, copywriting, and editing where appropriate.
  • Work closely with political analysts, senior editors, and other content colleagues to ensure coverage is accurate and relevant.
  • Help maintain consistency and quality across all written outputs.
  • Contribute to a supportive team culture focused on high-quality political intelligence.

Your Experience & Knowledge

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with professional experience in a writing or editorial role.
  • Good understanding of UK and EU politics.
  • Experience in journalism, political analysis, or public affairs is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with using AI tools for research or editing is a plus.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and support the development of colleagues' work.
