Sharps Pixley, a well-established physical precious metals and bullion brokerage based in London's West End, is seeking an experienced and detail-focused Cashier to join their Customer Services team. The role combines front-office cashiering, online order processing, and secure fulfilment and distribution, operating within a highly controlled, high-value environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong transactional accuracy, sound compliance awareness, and prior exposure to dealing with high-net-worth clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform cashier and counter duties, processing high-value cash, card, and bank transfer transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
- Execute buy and sell transactions for physical precious metals and bullion, applying live pricing and internal procedures.
- Process online bullion orders, ensuring accurate pricing, payment confirmation, and order validation.
- Coordinate order fulfilment and distribution, including: Preparing metals for client collection or secure delivery; liaising with internal operations, vaulting, and approved logistics partners; ensuring all packaging, documentation, and dispatch procedures meet security standards.
- Verify, count, and reconcile cash and physical metal holdings on a daily basis.
- Issue transaction confirmations, invoices, and supporting documentation.
- Perform customer due diligence (CDD) in line with the Money Laundering Regulations 2017, escalating cases requiring enhanced due diligence (EDD) in accordance with internal procedures.
- Maintain strict adherence to security protocols for handling physical metals and high-value assets.
- Support daily reconciliations, audit trails, and internal reporting requirements.
Your profile:
- Proven cashier experience is essential, ideally gained within bullion, private banking, FX, wealth management, or other high-value transactional environments.
- Exposure to dealing with high-net-worth clients, with confidence handling significant transaction values.
- Experience processing online orders, payments, and fulfilment workflows.
- Strong understanding of cash handling, reconciliations, and operational controls.
- Sound working knowledge of UK Money Laundering Regulations 2017, including CDD and EDD processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Professional, discreet, and customer-focused communication style.
- Preferred (but not essential): Prior experience handling physical bullion; coins and bars.
- Familiarity with secure logistics, insured delivery, or vaulting processes.
- Experience working in a regulated or security-controlled financial environment.
