Definitive is looking for a highly skilled Senior Claims Handler with expertise in Energy and Marine insurance claims. We are recruiting on behalf of a leading global Reinsurance company for a key position in their London office. If you have extensive experience handling complex claims in Reinsurance, this is a prime opportunity to advance your career.

As a Senior Claims Handler, you will manage high-value claims in the Energy and Marine sectors within the reinsurance business. This hybrid role requires 2-3 days per week in Central London and regular travel to Luxembourg to oversee claims in multiple jurisdictions. The role focuses on delivering efficient and accurate claims management while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, investigate, and manage Energy and Marine claims, ensuring all are processed in line with reinsurance policy terms and conditions.
  • Handle the complete lifecycle of claims, from notification through to settlement, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders such as underwriters and actuaries and coordinate with external experts like loss adjusters to ensure seamless claims handling.
  • Monitor and track open claims, aiming to minimize the lifecycle of each case.
  • Prepare Large Loss Notifications (LLNs) and ensure the accurate and timely booking of significant claims.
  • Assist in quarterly and monthly claims reviews, ensuring accurate reserve levels.
  • Provide detailed reports on claims trends and offer strategic input into claims management processes.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience handling Energy or Marine, high authority reinsurance claims.
  • Excellent experience with litigation and arbitration.
  • Proven expertise in managing large, complex claims portfolios within the reinsurance industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with claims management systems (e.g., Synergy2) is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is essential, whilst fluency with French is a major plus.
  • Ability to travel to Luxembourg regularly and work out of our Central London office 2 to 3 days a week.
