A leading engineering organisation is seeking a talented Electronic Systems Engineer to play a key role in the design and integration of complex electronic systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work on advanced, high-integrity engineering projects within a collaborative and innovative environment. They work on a Hybrid basis, with 2-3 days per week onsite, at either their Stevenage, Bristol or Bolton offices.

The Role

As an Electronic Systems Engineer, you will take ownership of system-level design and integration, translating high-level requirements into robust, fully integrated hardware solutions. You'll be responsible for defining system architectures, breaking down complex equipment into subsystems, and ensuring seamless connectivity across interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead system-level electronic design from concept through to deployment
  • Define system architectures, interfaces, and interconnects
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation, including:
  • System schematics
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Interface control documentation
  • Block diagrams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, firmware, manufacturing)
  • Support system integration, validation, and acceptance testing
  • Conduct root cause analysis and resolve system-level issues
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, EMC, and regulatory standards
  • About You

    We're looking for a systems-oriented engineer who thrives in complex environments and enjoys solving challenging integration problems.

    Essential:

    • Degree-qualified in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
    • Strong experience in system-level electronic design and integration
    • Proven ability to define system architectures and equipment breakdowns
    • Solid understanding of analogue and digital electronics
    • Experience producing technical documentation and system diagrams
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
    • Familiarity with systems design tools (e.g. DOORS, Rhapsody, MATLAB/Simulink)

    Desirable:

    • Experience with power distribution and grounding strategies
    • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, SPI, IC, UART)
    • Understanding of EMC/EMI mitigation
    • Background in regulated industries such as aerospace, defence, automotive, rail, or medical
    • Experience with SPICE simulation tools
