This is an opportunity to establish yourself as a Principal Systems Engineer! A long-term key role within our client's structure. They are a supplier to the Royal Navy and global allies with a reputation for agility.
This role reports into the Project Manager (and functional Line Manager) and will work closely with the Systems Design Authority and Engineering Manager. As the PEL, you will be overseeing the engineering throughout product development across Technology Levels, building upon existing products. You will be responsible for providing engineering leadership, supporting customer meetings, and involved in hands-on engineering.
This is a Principal Systems Engineer level position suitable for an experienced engineering leader with demonstrable success in engineering management and team leadership, with an appreciation of mature complex engineering and experience of leading development across the product development lifecycle:
- Expertise in Systems Engineering with an understanding of Software, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
- An appreciation of designing complex products
- Systems design experience
- Experience of working throughout the development lifecycle (design through to integration, verification, validation, and qualification)
- Expertise in trade-off analysis
- Technology insertion (e.g. Urgent Capability Requirements)
- Supporting in-service products/systems and quality/issue resolution (e.g. experience of structured problem solving)
- Experience of creating engineering schedules with dependencies
- Experience of engineering estimation, with an ability to review, challenge and justify estimates
- Experience of management of risks, assumptions, issues, decisions, and opportunities
- Expertise in managing a multidisciplinary team to deliver the scope of Work Packages to time and cost
- Mature Engineering in accordance with a Business Management System
- Awareness of security, export control, and health safety
