The Opportunity: Are you an experienced engineering professional looking to step into a role that combines technical expertise with strategic business delivery? As a Portfolio Delivery Team Lead, you'll play a critical role in coordinating engineering activities across a diverse portfolio of products and programmes. Working at the intersection of engineering, operations, and programme delivery, you'll help shape long-term product strategies, manage technical risks, drive innovation, and influence key business decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while collaborating with senior stakeholders to improve efficiency, performance, and delivery outcomes across multiple projects. You'll gain exposure to the full product lifecycle, from concept and development through to production, delivery, and ongoing support, giving you a unique perspective on how engineering decisions influence wider business success.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Leading portfolio-level engineering activities across multiple programmes and projects.
  • Identifying and managing technical risks, dependencies, and obsolescence challenges.
  • Supporting the development of innovative solutions that improve efficiency, commonality, modularity, and product reuse.
  • Collaborating with project teams to ensure plans and dependencies are aligned across the wider portfolio.
  • Reviewing predicted and realised programme benefits to ensure delivery remains technically achievable.
  • Acting as a key interface between engineering teams, centres of excellence, operational functions, and programme stakeholders.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and helping develop new ways of working.
  • Influencing decisions that enhance operational performance, product sustainability, and long-term business value.

What We're Looking For: We're interested in hearing from candidates who can combine strong technical understanding with the ability to influence and lead across a complex organisation. You'll ideally have:

  • Significant experience within an engineering, systems, or technical delivery environment.
  • A strong understanding of the product lifecycle, including design, development, manufacturing, and support.
  • Experience working with complex electro-mechanical, systems, or technology-based products.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence and challenge senior decision-makers.
  • The ability to analyse complex technical problems and develop pragmatic, innovative solutions.
  • Excellent prioritisation skills and experience managing competing demands across multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues for a variety of audiences.
  • A collaborative leadership style that enables teams to succeed and deliver results.

Why Apply? This role offers a rare blend of technical leadership, portfolio management, and business influence. If you're looking to broaden your experience beyond traditional engineering delivery and want to help shape the future direction of complex products and programmes, we'd love to hear from you. Even if you feel like you don't meet every requirement, we encourage you to reach out and apply.
