Our client, a leading entity in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled Section Engineer for a contract role. This unique opportunity allows you to be involved in one of the UK's most complex and challenging infrastructure projects, overseeing construction activities at the site level. This project is situated in the Southwest and requires significant expertise in construction management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing management in a client-facing role, demonstrating a positive culture focused on safety and quality
- Co-ordinating sub-contractor activities and chairing regular co-ordination meetings with staff and subcontractors
- Reporting to senior leadership teams across various project organisational functions
- Co-ordinating with relevant site teams and functions to enable works, including cross-business functional departments
- Identifying opportunities and risks and maintaining the risk register in conjunction with relevant project functions
- Scrutinising drawings and technical documents
- Providing intelligent oversight of works and site activities and raising relevant documentation as required (e.g., TQs, RFIs, NCRs)
- Ensuring overall compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company policy, and best practices throughout the construction/commissioning process
Job Requirements:
- Experience in the role of a Section Engineer with significant site experience
- Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
- Developing experience in the leadership and management of complex projects and/or programmes
- Engaging manager of people with proven line management and development skills
- Ability to build strong stakeholder and partner relationships
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond rapidly to unexpected events
- IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office, scheduling software, and document management systems
- Security clearance, CSCS, and familiarity with SSOWP and RAMS
Qualifications:
- Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience, with vocational training in construction/engineering
- CSCS certification
- Desirable: Chartered status of a relevant institution, Project Management training (e.g., APM, Prince2), nuclear training (e.g., Triple Bar), SMSTS/IOSH, and other site qualifications (e.g., Lifting Appointed Persons)
