Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking an Electronic Engineering Lab Technician to join their team on a contract basis in Stevenage. This role is essential to support the design, development, proving, and transfer to production of electronic equipment, including missile subsystems, platform-based weapon system subsystems, and test equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing lab housekeeping, ensuring the lab is maintained in a clean and tidy state at all times.
  • Managing projects scheduled to use lab facilities, including determining requirements and timelines.
  • Assisting lab users with lab activities, monitoring tests, and undertaking CCA re-work activities to IPC standards.
  • Overseeing the maintenance and calibration of equipment/assets to guarantee availability and usability.
  • Assembling and disassembling test setups and fixtures.
  • Training lab users on basic lab skills such as soldering, crimping, sleeving, cable lay-ups, and using lab test equipment.
  • Ensuring lab security by restricting access to authorised personnel only.
  • Managing stakeholder relations including lab users, project managers, and various internal departments.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in engineering lab management.
  • Current IPC certificates in J-STD-001 and IPC-7721; IPC-A-610 certification is highly beneficial.
  • Understanding of Electro-static Discharge (ESD) management.
  • Security Clearance (SC) is required for this role.
  • Proactive in maintaining Health & Safety standards within the lab environment.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure effective lab operations.

This position requires a presence in the lab to support the user base.
