Working: The role offers flexible & hybrid working. It would be beneficial to be on-site 3-4 days a week, depending on the project needs and working remotely other days. Part time working also available.
The Equipment Design Authority is responsible for ensuring the technical development of certification sign-off and in-service support on two major programmes, feeding into the Army & Navy. By building on and maintaining a complex structure of functional and physical design, the Equipment Design Authority will ensure every aspect of the product can be verified, validated and accepted into the System capability by our customers.
In this role, the Equipment Design Authority will be expected to have a high level of engagement across a variety of technical aspects, including system design, software engineering, electronics and mechanical engineering, in-service reliability and support, safety, cybersecurity and other disciplines. In addition, the Equipment Design Authority will need to ensure the hardware and software design continues to evolve in order to meet the demand of the overall system capability expected by our customers. The Equipment Design Authority will be supported in their career development goals and will ensure expertise are maintained within the team to promote the design goals required of the team and wider organisation.
Skill and Experience:
- Design leadership for a complex electronics subsystem
- Manage technical risks and opportunities in line with product development requirements
- Developing strong relationships with Product Design stakeholders
- Mastering Systems engineering principles, processes and practices
- Requirements engineering at System, Subsystem or Component level to enable evolution of the product design and system certification
- Broad knowledge associated with the design and build of hardware and software for computer based electronics equipment
- Ability to validate test procedures required to verify products and gather evidence to enable certification.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in the Defence or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
- Experience in the Naval / Maritime domain would be advantageous.
