In this exciting role, you will be at the heart of our operations, supporting the Site and team leaders by conducting site-specific reviews, investigations, and audits. You will also play a key role in assurance activities, organising Site Safety Training, providing insightful advice on the performance review of the Sites Memorandum of Understanding and providing metrics for the sites Safety Health Environmental Committee. As a health and safety focal point for SDA staff at the Barrow site, you will ensure seamless cooperation, coordination, communication, and control between SDA Barrow staff and BAE Safety Health Environmental staff, safeguarding the well-being of both organisations. This is a hybrid working based role, requiring your presence of a minimum of 3 days a week onsite, with some flexibility around core hours to support your work-life balance. Key Aspects:

  • Reviewing the SDA site health, safety environmental performance via undertaking internal audits and provide an annual update on compliance with policy arrangements.
  • Managing enquiries and act as focal point on Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental (OSHE) matters on site, providing advice to stakeholders across the business.
  • Maintaining site risk assessments, maintain and review/reissue as and when there are significant changes.
  • Assisting in embedding compliance of OSHE legislation and regulations across the site.
  • Providing metrics for performance reporting (Key Performance Indicators) and managing dashboard reporting and risk registers.
  • Assisting in the development of corporate communications in relation to health and OSHE messages.
  • Producing, updating, maintaining site specific Instructions, induction briefs and a OSHE web page.
  • Delivering OSHE Induction briefs and recording staff attendance on central OSHE, Training Planning and Monitoring Register.

Hybrid and flexible working can be considered for this post but will need regular workplace attendance due to security constraints and 3 days a week on site attendance required. Candidates are encouraged to discuss options with the recruiting line manager before submitting an application.

Person specification

For this role, we are seeking the following:

  • Experience of working in Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental within an organisation.
  • Evidence of effective stakeholder management at all levels, both internal and external.

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Relevant experience of providing technical advice and delivery of safety products and/or services.

Required Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Certificate or NVQ/IOSH level 3 as a minimum.

Desirable:

  • IOSH membership or equivalent Qualifications Nebosh Certificate or NVQ/IOSH level 3 as a minimum.

Evidence of qualification/Licence/Membership will be required at interview. All qualifications/licences/memberships declared must be held at point of application and if applicable be in date. Equivalent Qualifications will not be accepted.
