Job description for Equipment Support Manager
Here at Defence Equipment and Support, we are looking for Equipment Support Managers to lead the delivery and management of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) services, ensuring capability and availability of equipment and products.
This is a key role for leading and delivering in-service ILS activities to ensure we continue to meet our customer’s equipment support requirements, for the capability’s upkeep and update through life. You’ll be a key advocate for providing timely effective support intelligence and assurance, into business decision making and in-service management. In this role you will lead and manage assurance of technical information, documentation, asset management, and data reporting analysis to continually improve logistic supply and support solution arrangements.
We champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance is required (this is expected to be approximately 60% of your working week) to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance and business need. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role. Dependent on organisational requirements, travel to other sites may be required.
What you’ll be doing
- Producing, maintaining, and managing all relevant ILS outputs including but not limited to ILS plans, obsolescence management, supportability cases and technical publications to mitigate supportability risks/issues through life, enhancing customer service whilst reducing whole life cost expenditure.
- Leading your team, providing advice and guidance to everyone within your business areas.
- Providing ILS inputs into update work packages and post design service tasks. Including providing technical inputs, evaluations and assurance into contractual tenders and re-lets. Ensuring that effective monitoring regimes are set, to meet the customer requirements.
- Asset management system upkeep activities covering modifications, system status and any associated limitations. Including leading management and monitoring regimes for responding to reported failures, incidents and observations, highlighting emerging trends, and identifying ‘Get Well’ options, by collaborating with cross functional colleagues.
- Improving and enhancing through life support solutions inclusive of disposal, driving equipment availability, and championing continuous improvement.
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you’ll need to demonstrate experience of the following essential criteria:
- Evaluating and improving through life support solutions.
- Upkeeping and updating support by applying ILS policies, processes, tools into in-service teams.
- Delivering asset management systems and knowledge in delivering through life support services/systems.
- Producing and scrutinising reports for complex issues and trends for communicating recommendations and alternative approaches.
- Delivering continuous improvement activities and reducing whole life cost expenditure.
- Managing and using logistic information systems/repositories.
In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviourswill be assessed at interview:
