Excellent benefits + genuine progression to Financial Controller

Are you a Management Accountant looking for a role where you can take on more responsibility and progress your career towards Financial Controller?

We are recruiting for an established and growing bridging and development finance lender based in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to join a supportive, high-performing finance team and work closely with both the Financial Controller and CFO.

You’ll be given increasing ownership across the finance function, with exposure well beyond routine month-end accounting and a clear opportunity to develop your technical, commercial and leadership experience as the business continues to grow.

The role

As Management Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the preparation and review of monthly management accounts
  • Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Managing cash‑flow forecasting and reporting
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Assisting with the year‑end audit and liaising with external auditors
  • Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
  • Reviewing and improving financial reporting processes and controls
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiency
  • Producing ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions and growth
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the finance team where appropriate
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls and company policies

What we're looking for:

We’d like to speak to candidates who are currently working as a Management Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant, Finance Manager or similar and are ready to take the next step in their career.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • AAT Level 3 or 4, or be actively studying towards CIMA or ACCA
  • Previous experience within a management accounting or month‑end finance role
  • Experience preparing or supporting monthly management accounts
  • Good understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, financial controls and accounting processes
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow reporting
  • Experience supporting year‑end audit processes
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Confidence communicating with colleagues and senior stakeholders
  • A proactive approach and an interest in improving existing processes

Experience within bridging finance, property finance, mortgage lending, financial services, property or a related sector would be particularly advantageous, but isn't essential.

This isn’t simply another Management Accountant position.

The business is looking for somebody ambitious who wants to broaden their responsibilities and develop towards becoming a Financial Controller in the future.

You’ll work closely with an experienced Financial Controller and CFO, gaining exposure to senior decision‑making and the wider commercial performance of a growing specialist lender.

The benefits package includes:

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Your birthday off*
  • 20 work‑from‑anywhere days*
  • 4 CSR days*
  • Private medical insurance for you and your partner*

  • 5% employer pension contribution, increasing with service up to 8%*
  • Income Protection

  • Electric Car Salary Sacrifice Scheme*

*Following the relevant qualifying period.
