Purpose of Role
To coordinate the movement of all warehouse-related traffic entering and leaving site and act as Banksman for all deliveries and waste removal from site. Ensure that basic hygiene and health and safety are maintained in external locations including transport yard, waste handling and canopy.
Key Responsibilities
- A considerable amount of physical effort required in the manual cleaning of the yard, canopy, pallet storage, goods in/out, warehouse and silos.
- Complete daily pallet count by type.
- 1st point of contact for security when vehicles arrive on site.
- Use booking sheet to obtain information for all incoming vehicles.
- Complete vehicle checks on arrival prior to offloading.
- Vehicle unloading.
- Verify deliveries received match booking sheet on intake, identifying and reporting shortages or damages.
- Pallet labeling of incoming goods and loading onto conveyor.
- Complete incoming delivery paperwork on Google Sheets to meet 3rd party audit traceability requirements.
- Communicate daily with colleagues and use information to prioritise own workload.
- Work in conditions with variations in weather including heat and cold.
- Full responsibility for the control and usage of all cleaning materials and equipment as required.
- Directly responsible for carrying out safety checks on machinery prior to use.
- Ensure correct segregation of waste/recycling materials intended for disposal or recycling.
- Arrange collection of waste where applicable.
- Maintain paperwork for all waste collections.
- Load outgoing vehicles where applicable.
- Responsible for vehicle/pedestrian safety on the yard.
- The job holder is required to perform tasks as deemed relevant by their Line Manager.
- Responsible for Food Safety, Quality and Legality.
Requirements
- Trained in Manual Handling, Basic Food Hygiene, Safe use of chemicals (Coshh), Safe use of Ladders and working at height.
- H&S Awareness.
- Spillage response training.
- Fork Lift Truck Licence.
- MEWP Licence.
- A sound working knowledge of the food industry with experience of cleaning and hygiene schedules and cleaning materials.
- A good standard of general education is required.
