Purpose of Role
The preparation, processing and packing of raw materials into finished products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the plant can complete weekly production.
  • Maintain a constant supply of raw materials/ingredients and packaging to the production line.
  • Make adjustments to the plant production line machinery and equipment to ensure that maximum production levels are achieved in the most efficient way possible.
  • Responsibility for ordering the correct volumes of raw materials and packaging from the Warehouse to meet the daily production plan.
  • Completion of documentation relating to production output levels, quality of finished product and material usage figures.
  • Indirect responsibility for the induction of new and temporary operators allocated to the production team.
  • Responsibility for production line adjustments, changeovers, strip downs and re-assembly when changing over product.
  • Directly responsible for ensuring that the production line is maintained in a proper and satisfactory condition in order to meet the weekly production plan.
  • Full responsibility for completion of all relevant safety checks prior to the commencement of the daily production plan.
  • Responsibility for the quality and quantity of the product being produced and packed and the relevant paperwork to support this.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that all finished product specifications are complied with during the production period.
  • The job holder is expected to use initiative and judgement in identifying and correcting production faults and stoppages.
  • The job holder is expected to use initiative and judgement in ordering a constant supply of raw materials and packaging from the Warehouse in order to maintain continuous production runs.
  • The job holder is expected to use initiative and judgement in communicating with QA and Engineering when problems arise.
  • The job holder is required to do all tasks considered as relevant by their line manager.
  • Responsible for Food Safety, Quality and Legality.

Working Hours
Rotating 3-week shift pattern, Days and Nights, 12 hour shifts, working an average of 36.75 hours per week.

Qualifications
A good standard of general education is required in English & Maths.
A sound working knowledge of the food industry with experience of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
A forklift truck (FLT) licence is an advantage for the lifting and positioning of raw materials and packaging and the removal of waste finished product.
