As a long-established and recipient of a supplier award for our delivery into this international bank, we are assisting with a vice president opportunity where you can shape risk, governance and control across a major technology function in a highly regulated financial services environment for a major international bank. This is a chance to lead at executive level, influence key stakeholders and make a visible impact across digital engineering, cyber, audit and operational risk.
You'll be trusted to define and govern the risk and control strategy, build strong frameworks, and ensure issues are proactively identified, tracked and remediated. You'll also play a key part in strengthening a proactive risk culture and supporting leadership with clear, decision-ready insight.
What you'll be doing:
- Defining, creating and governing the Digital Engineering Risk & Control strategy and framework, aligned to wider Technology risk appetite and EMEA strategy.
- Leading risk oversight across Digital Engineering Services and Solutions, including key risk indicators, control effectiveness, issue management and remediation tracking.
- Presenting risk landscape updates and high-quality reporting to senior leadership, including running monthly Risk/Control/Audit forums and chairing the Risk Oversight Committee.
- Partnering with Product, Platform, Cyber Security, IT Risk, Internal Audit, Compliance and other stakeholders to advise on new products, change, vulnerabilities, incidents and regulatory requirements.
- Managing audits, assurance activity, loss events, disaster recovery input, pen test findings and control checks across infrastructure and related technology environments.
- Leading, coaching and developing a team, while promoting a values-led, inclusive and delivery-driven culture.
What you'll need:
- Extensive experience leading a risk and control function within financial services or another regulated environment, with banking experience ideal.
- Strong experience managing risk, control, audit and remediation across large technology or infrastructure environments.
- Proven ability to engage credibly with senior and executive stakeholders, providing clear challenge and decision-ready insight.
- Hands-on knowledge of operational risk, incident/problem management, threat and vulnerability management, disaster recovery and regulatory controls.
- Experience with risk management tools such as OpenPages, and familiarity with COBIT and NIST 2 frameworks.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements including SOX, cybersecurity, data privacy, AML and FCA-related obligations.
- Leadership experience with direct people management responsibility.
- Desirable: knowledge of authentication services technology.
Qualifications:
- Essential: ITIL Expert, CRISC, CISA or CISM, and degree-level education or equivalent.
- Desirable: FRM, PRM, CFA, MBA or Prince2 Foundation.
