Are you an experienced Operational Risk Manager looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity where you can make a real impact? This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regulated financial services environment, working closely with senior leadership to strengthen and evolve an established Operational Risk Framework. You'll play a key role in helping the business identify, assess and manage operational risk, while supporting strong governance, regulatory compliance and a positive risk culture across the organisation. What you'll be doing

  • Support the ongoing development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Operational Risk Framework, ensuring it remains aligned with regulatory requirements and business needs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate operational risk assessments across the business, reviewing and challenging departmental assessments to ensure consistency, effective control evaluation and appropriate risk scoring.
  • Maintain the Operational Risk Register, monitor incidents, near misses and emerging risks, identify trends and root causes, and track risk mitigation actions through to completion.
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), risk appetite metrics and the annual Business-Wide Risk Assessment (BWRA).
  • Produce high-quality risk reporting, dashboards and management information for senior leadership, including the Executive Risk and Compliance Committee (ERCC), while escalating significant risks and control weaknesses where appropriate.
  • Support the firm's Operational Resilience programme, including scenario testing, business change initiatives, outsourcing risk reviews and strategic projects.
  • Contribute to regulatory activities, including ICARA, audit responses and the review of operational risk policies and procedures.
  • Promote a strong risk culture by delivering guidance, encouraging first-line ownership of risks and supporting effective risk management across the business.

What you'll bring

Essential

  • Experience in an Operational Risk role within an FCA-regulated financial services organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of operational risk frameworks, governance and risk management best practice.
  • Experience facilitating, reviewing and constructively challenging operational risk assessments.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and report-writing skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence and provide constructive challenge at all levels.
  • A collaborative, organised and pragmatic approach with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of MIFIDPRU, ICARA and Operational Resilience requirements.
  • Experience preparing reports for Executive Committees and Boards.
  • Professional Risk Management qualification (IRM or equivalent).
