If you’re a technically minded Project Manager who enjoys supporting smart people, improving how work gets done, and being close to the detail, this is a genuinely rare opportunity. You’ll be joining a growing, highly technical organisation (circa 60 people) with a non‑corporate culture, flat structure and strong emphasis on quality output. This role isn’t about climbing a corporate ladder – it’s about making a meaningful day‑to‑day difference to how teams work, collaborate and deliver.
You’ll sit at the centre of multiple technical initiatives, working closely with developers, researchers and operational teams to keep projects moving smoothly and sensibly.
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as the central point of contact between development, research, analysis and operations teams
- Monitoring progress across multiple technical projects, keeping teams aligned on priorities and timelines
- Building, maintaining and adapting project roadmaps as circumstances change
- Structuring work using ticketing systems and project management tools, tracking progress and outcomes
- Helping allocate resources, triage tasks and support teams when bottlenecks arise
- Identifying inefficiencies in processes and ways of working, then implementing practical improvements
- Balancing the demands of legacy systems while helping the business mature operationally
- Organising and chairing meetings, documenting decisions and reporting on progress
- Mentoring junior team members and supporting a collaborative, focused working environment
- Communicating with external partners where required
What you’ll bring:
- Degree‑level education (BSc or higher) in a technical, engineering or related subject
- Around 5+ years’ experience in relevant technical or software‑focused roles
- Proven experience managing complex technical projects
- A strong technical foundation, including development knowledge and understanding of IT software and infrastructure
- Programming experience (with knowledge of C# and the .NET platforms)
- Database experience (SQL Server, Oracle or equivalent)
- A logical, numerical mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to work with people of different styles and disciplines
- A proactive, grounded and hands‑on approach – comfortable supporting teams rather than directing from a distance
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience with ticketing systems, version control (e.g. Git, PlasticSCM, Hg) and project management tools
- Formal PM certifications (valued, but practical knowledge and experience matter more)
What’s in it for you:
- Competitive remuneration based on experience and interview performance
- Discretionary bonus scheme
- Long‑term progression as the company grows – without corporate politics
- A friendly, collaborative environment with a flat hierarchy and minimal bureaucracy
- Exposure to modern technology and complex, interesting technical challenges
- Excellent benefits including pension, private health insurance, gym membership, team outings and daily snacks
- A culture that values balance, autonomy, quality thinking and human interaction
This is a fully office‑based role, so you should ideally be located within an hour of the office, and you must already have the right to work in the UK. Start date is flexible, but the sooner you can start, the better. If you’re a Technical Project Manager who enjoys being close to the technology, supporting talented teams and improving how work gets done, we’d love to hear from you.
