About this Role

Senior Learning Mentor (HLTA) - 34.25 hours per week, 8.15am - 4.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8.15am - 3.30pm Friday, term time only (38 weeks). Grade D - Step 1 Actual Annual Salary £21,560.49 (which is equivalent to a full-time salary of £27,779).

Deer Park School is a new state of the art seven-form secondary school which opened in September 2021. At present there are just under 1,000 students on roll across Year 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11. We are part of the RAISE Education Trust which comprises Deer Park Secondary School, Wildern Secondary School and Boorley Park Primary School. We will have a PAN of 1050 when full.

As a Senior Learning Mentor, we are seeking candidates who are highly motivated and committed, with excellent communication skills. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and delivering 1:1 and small group interventions, under the professional direction of a qualified teacher.
  • Planning, preparing, assessing, recording, and reporting on development, progress, and attainment.
  • Complementing and supporting the professional work of teachers by developing strategies to support students in the classroom.
  • Sharing strategies with classroom teachers and supporting and line managing Learning Mentors to develop their support practice.

Adaptability is essential as is the capacity to relate well to both students and teachers. A desire to make a difference will be equally valued along with a good sense of humour. Previous experience is required. We would also welcome applications from individuals who are considering entering a career in teaching.
