We are looking for an accomplished and experienced Java Engineering Lead/Manager to lead our UKBI engineering team. Reporting into our Engineering Director, you will have a strong background in Java, microservices, serverless architecture, Docker, EKS and search technologies such as Solr or Open Search.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Java engineers, providing guidance for their professional development.
  • Collaborate with teams to understand requirements and provide solutions that meet our needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to lead innovation within the team.
  • Develop scalable software solutions using Java, microservices architecture, Docker, EKS, Search systems with Solr or Open Search, AWS services.
  • Ensure software delivery through best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Participate in sprints, contributing hands-on to software development.
  • Maintain unit tests and contribute to test automation to ensure software reliability and maintainability.
  • Manage risks and technical impediments, communicating with leadership to ensure project success.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Java, microservices, Python, SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Experience in search technologies such as Solr or Open Search.
  • Expertise of AWS Services like EC2, EKS and Lambda.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Collaborate effectively with partners at all levels.
