What the job involves

Within the Video Security & Access Control (VS&AC) business unit at Motorola Solutions, we are helping solve some of the biggest challenges around safety and physical security by developing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and products. Avigilon, a Motorola Solutions brand, designs, develops, and manufactures advanced AI, video analytics, network video management software and hardware, and surveillance cameras that help change the way people interact with their security systems.

The Product Manager, Camera Experience is responsible for the end‑to‑end integration of cameras and sensors into the Avigilon software ecosystem. This role ensures that hardware capabilities are translated into functional, outcome‑based workflows across the Alta (cloud‑native) and Unity (on‑premises) platforms. Reporting to the Group Product Manager, you will manage how camera features and their associated end‑to‑end experiences—such as device discovery, claiming and setup, and sensors—are surfaced and utilized within the Alta and Unity video management systems. In the future this scope may expand to include the software tools used for system planning and device deployment.

End‑To‑End Workflow & Experience:

  • User Journey: Define and manage the software requirements for the full camera experience, including initial device discovery, configuration & setup, and its operational use within the Alta and Unity video management systems.
  • Platform Cohesion: Ensure consistent user experiences for camera features across all Alta and Unity platforms by partnering with the video management system teams on delivery.
  • Workflow Focus: Define end‑to‑end workflows that include leveraging existing hardware capabilities and influencing the addition of new capabilities for new products.

Device Ecosystem & Feature Integration:

  • Hardware/Software Bridge: Work with Software, Firmware, AI and Devices teams to ensure that new device capabilities (e.g., thermal, multi‑sensor, or edge AI) have corresponding software support at launch.
  • Ecosystem Integration: Support the technical integration between cameras, sensors, and Avigilon software to create unified security solutions.
  • Analytics & Metadata: Partner with the AI & Analytics team to manage how edge‑based AI and metadata is generated and streamed to the VMS to ensure realization of AI use cases.

Discovery, Validation & Enablement:

  • Field Research: Regularly engage with customers, installers, and operators to document pain points and identify gaps for the camera experience.
  • Hardware Influence: Feed field‑driven insights back to the Devices product team and influence future hardware and firmware roadmaps to ensure next‑generation devices meet commercial and operational needs.
  • Testing & Validation: Lead beta programs and field trials to validate that features and tools perform reliably in customer environments and meet market needs.
  • Launch Enablement: Collaborate with Product Marketing to support product positioning, technical documentation, and launch coordination.
