Requirements

  • Experience developing backend applications
  • Experience with TypeScript, or experience in another language and an interest in working with TypeScript
  • Some exposure to event-driven systems or message queues (e.g. Kafka, SQS)
  • Familiarity with cloud environments, ideally AWS
  • Comfort working with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and an understanding of basic trade-offs
  • A collaborative approach, with clear communication and a focus on solving problems as a team
  • Curiosity and motivation to continue learning and growing as an engineer
  • (Desirable) Some exposure to frontend development, such as React

  • Reporting to: Software Engineering Manager
  • You’ll join the Kaluza Technology community, working on the Energy Retail platform, a scalable SaaS product that supports energy retailers and decarbonisation efforts.
  • In this role, you’ll build and improve backend services using technologies like TypeScript and Node.js, contributing to reliable, event-driven systems at scale.
  • You’ll collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver user-focused features, while taking ownership of services or components with support from experienced teammates.
  • Along the way, you’ll write well-tested code, work with databases and cloud technologies such as AWS, and help maintain reliable systems in production, all within a collaborative team focused on continuous improvement.
