This is a great opportunity for a Senior Product Designer who excels at making technically complex systems feel clear, coherent, and usable. You’ll play a key role in shaping the end-to-end experience of an enterprise AI platform—designing not just interfaces, but workflows, mental models, and operational experiences that help developers, AI engineers, and enterprise users succeed with confidence.
This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys working close to technical systems and constraints, and who has experience designing products involving concepts like configuration, deployment, versioning, or orchestration—while always advocating for usability and clarity.
At deepset, we’re on a mission to make custom AI solutions accessible to every organization. With Haystack, thousands of developers build advanced LLM applications every day, while our enterprise-ready Haystack Enterprise Platform helps companies turn large language models into real business value. We’re remote-first, flexible, and built on a culture of trust and ownership. You’ll collaborate with deeply technical teams, tackle meaningful design challenges, and help turn complex AI and infrastructure concepts into products that feel intuitive, powerful, and dependable in real-world enterprise environments.
What you will do
- Design end-to-end product experiences: Own the full design process from discovery and concept, to delivery across complex, multi-step workflows rather than isolated screens.
- Design for usability at scale: Translate advanced technical concepts (e.g. pipelines, configuration, deployment models, versioning, governance, observability) into clear, intuitive user flows that reduce cognitive load and help users build correct mental models.
- Shape operational workflows: Design experiences that support our user’s operational needs—such as managing versions, environments, branching, and lifecycle states while keeping non-expert users oriented and confident.
- User research & problem framing: Engage with users and enterprise stakeholders to understand how technical constraints impact real workflows, and turn those insights into actionable design decisions. Evangelise the different ways AI is being used by end-users especially in an enterprise scenario.
- Collaborate deeply with engineering: Work closely with PMs and engineers throughout discovery and delivery, aligning on constraints, tradeoffs, and opportunities while ensuring design intent is preserved.
- Design systems & foundations: Contribute to and evolve a scalable design system that supports complex states, edge cases, and consistency across the product.
- Raise the design bar: Champion strong usability principles, shared language, and design-led thinking across teams, especially in technically dense problem spaces.
What you bring to the team
- Experience: 5+ years as a product designer working on complex B2B or SaaS products, ideally in domains such as developer tools, platforms, infrastructure-adjacent products, data, or AI.
- Strong usability instincts: You’re particularly skilled at simplifying complexity, designing clear workflows, and improving systems that might otherwise feel overwhelming or error-prone.
- Systems & operations mindset: You think beyond individual screens and consider states, dependencies, edge cases, and lifecycle flows (e.g. creation → configuration → deployment → iteration).
- Technical empathy: Comfortable collaborating with engineers and understanding concepts like APIs, data flows, environments, versioning, or execution models—without needing to be an engineer yourself.
- Design beyond artefacts: You care as much about how a product works as how it looks, and you’re experienced in shaping processes, patterns, and shared design logic.
- End-to-end craft: Skilled across research, flow design, interaction design, prototyping, and handoff—knowing when to go deep and when to move fast.
- Clear communicator: Able to explain design decisions, tradeoffs, and user impact to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ownership & curiosity: You care deeply about the quality of the product and enjoy learning new technical domains to design better solutions.
Nice to have
- Experience designing products involving deployment models, configuration-heavy workflows, versioning or branching concepts, low-code/no-code tools, or infrastructure/platform software.
- Background in developer platforms, open-source products, AI/ML software, or enterprise tooling with technically diverse user personas.
Remote-first setup with flexible hours & tech of your choice. 30 days vacation + extra days for family sick leave. Competitive salary & stock options for every team member. Monthly sports & mental health support allowance with Oliva. Annual learning & development budget. Monthly team socials & in-person meetups. Dog-friendly Berlin HQ.
