Do you want to be responsible for providing survey support within DeepOcean? In response to increasing demand from our clients for survey services, we are now further strengthening our Aberdeen based survey team and are looking for an experienced Project Surveyor / Senior Project Surveyor who is seeking new challenges! DeepOcean operates a fleet of industry leading offshore vessels and ROVs providing construction, maintenance, survey and inspection services to the offshore energy industry. DeepOcean has established its place as a market leader through its investment in the most up to date technologies and recruitment of the best industry professionals. DeepOcean boasts an in-house Survey department of 100+ dedicated professionals supporting all the company’s survey requirements. DeepOcean’s survey department has an active technology agenda, constantly seeking to implement and improve upon the latest innovations in the industry. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be actively involved in advancing DeepOcean’s innovation solutions and internal development projects in the areas of remote data processing, uncrewed data acquisition, automation and streamlining of processing and reporting as well as other similar initiatives in the future. This is an onshore-based position, working from our main office in Aberdeen, with occasional offshore assignments as required.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide survey support to projects from tendering through planning, preparation and field execution
  • Assist with technical and commercial input to tenders
  • Responsible for the development of survey procedures and task plans
  • Liaise with and assist Project Manager, Offshore Manager and offshore crew in the daily support of construction and survey projects
  • Participate in establishing the offshore project organisation, responsibilities and authorities
  • Liaise with internal and external equipment suppliers in defining and sourcing suitable project equipment - oversee ordering, checking and timely delivery of equipment to worksites
  • Attend onshore calibrations and liaise with third party services
  • Participate as required in Project handover / Contract review / Hazops
  • Lead project briefings with key personnel / other project personnel
  • Assist in the production and timely delivery of final reporting and data deliverables
  • Act as liaison on behalf of project both with internal and external interfaces
  • Provide support and experience transfer to other Project Surveyors
  • Support internal innovation and development projects
  • Support and development of remote Survey solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree or other relevant education (Surveying or Engineering)
  • Strong communication and procedure/report writing skills - written work of a high standard and presentable quality
  • Strong understanding, both theoretical and operational, of survey methodologies for supporting construction and survey projects (pipeline inspection/seabed mapping etc.)
  • A keen interest in new technology and innovation and how to implement this into a competitive advantage
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written

Experience

  • Broad survey experience in construction/engineering support and survey services (pipeline inspection/seabed mapping) gained over at least 5 years preferably both onshore and offshore.
  • Specific knowledge and understanding of current offshore survey techniques in ROV based surveys, construction support, LBL installation and calibration, subsea metrology and dimensional control.
  • Data processing experience is advantageous though not required.
