The Role
Our People & Culture team is on a mission to empower our people to do their best work. Within our Talent, Performance, and Reward team (TPR) we are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to be a key strategic partner in our talent strategy. In this role, you will go beyond data processing to provide an unbiased, strategic perspective that drives tangible organizational decisions. We are looking for a builder - someone who is agile, pragmatic, and commercially minded, capable of delivering high-quality analysis at pace while navigating the complexities of a rapidly evolving organization. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), independently scoping and delivering end-to-end analytical projects that measure and improve our ability to attract, grow, and retain talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Problem Framing: Translate complex, ambiguous talent questions into structured analytical frameworks and North Star metrics.
- End to end analytics: Independently own the full analytical lifecycle from data extraction and complex SQL manipulation to delivering compelling data narratives that influence senior stakeholders.
- Metric Strategy & Monitoring: Develop and maintain sophisticated and sustainable reporting tools to provide ongoing visibility into talent insights, enabling self-service analytics for our Talent, Performance and Reward teams.
- Analytical Velocity & Pragmatism: Responsibly produce rigorous analysis at pace, using intuition and building in logical assumptions when perfect data is unavailable, ensuring decision-making isn’t stalled by a lack of total certainty.
- Stakeholder Influence: Partner directly with HR Business Partners and Leaders to integrate data-driven insights into core talent initiatives, such as investment strategies and attrition mitigation.
- Responsible data use: Lead on ensuring our analysis are compliant and run responsibly in line with data governance, leading on creating and maintaining Privacy Design Documents (PDDs) while right sizing effort proportionate to risk.
About You
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, etc.) or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or quantitative analysis, solving complex business problems using SQL and Python/R.
- Data Storytelling: Exceptional ability to translate complex findings into clear, actionable narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- AI Fluency: Curiosity and ability to use AI tools practically and responsibly to improve analytical velocity and accuracy.
- People & Talent Focus: Experience with or at least interest in HR/People Analytics, including working with sensitive and confidential data.
- Bias for action: Ability to self-start and self-direct work in an unstructured, fast-paced, challenging environment.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Impact: You’ll have a direct and meaningful impact on the strategies that empower our most valuable asset: our people. Your work will help shape the future of talent at Google DeepMind.
