Founded in 2017, DeepL now has around 1,000 passionate employees and is supported by world-renowned investors. Our goal is to become the global leader in trusted, intelligent AI technology, building products that drive better communication, foster connections, and create a meaningful impact.

You will join the Identity and Access Management team, owning DeepL's full identity stack: organisation, group, account, consent and session management, SSO federation, SCIM provisioning, and the OIDC provider, for both internal and external users. Reliability and performance sit at the heart of everything the team does.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Ship Features, Not Just Code: You will own the implementation of end-to-end features, ensuring your code solves actual user problems and is covered by robust tests.
  • Collaborate to Raise the Bar: You will work closely with teammates across Identity and adjacent teams, participating in code reviews and design discussions.
  • Leverage Modern Tooling: You will use AI-assisted tools to handle boilerplate and refactoring, allowing you to focus on logic and product value.
  • Build for Quality: You will write well-tested, production-ready code and participate in incident response to continuously raise the bar on code quality.

Qualities we look for:

  • Ownership and Reliability: You take responsibility for what you ship and treat each incident as an opportunity to learn.
  • Strong Engineering Fundamentals: You have a solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and clean coding principles.
  • Adaptability: You have a good foundation in backend development and server-side systems.
  • Enterprise Domain Curiosity: You are interested in the hard problems of B2B SaaS Identity.
  • AI-Native Velocity: You leverage AI-powered tools to accelerate your velocity and eliminate repetitive toil.

What we offer:

  • Diverse and internationally distributed team.
  • Open communication and regular feedback.
  • Hybrid work and flexible hours.

  • Regular in-person team events.
  • Monthly full-day hacking sessions.
  • 30 days of annual leave.
  • Competitive benefits tailored to your location.

If this role and our mission resonate with you, but you're hesitant because you don't check all the boxes, don't let that hold you back. At DeepL, it's all about the value you bring and the growth we can foster together.

How to prepare for a job interview at DeepL

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If DeepL uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
