About The Role
DeepL is at an inflection point in its growth, and this is a rare opportunity to shape how the world's most accurate AI translation company acquires, engages and converts customers at scale. As Director of Performance Marketing & Campaigns, you will own two tightly integrated functions: paid performance and acquisition, and integrated campaign execution â unifying them under a single, coherent growth strategy. You will lead a team of performance marketers and campaign managers â including specialists organised around DeepL's core product pillars (Language AI, Voice, and API) â to drive measurable impact across the full customer acquisition funnel, from first click to closed revenue. This role reports directly to the VP of Demand Generation and sits at the heart of DeepL's go-to-market motion.
What You'll Own
- Performance Marketing & Paid Acquisition
- Own and scale DeepL's paid channels globally â including paid search, paid social, display, retargeting, ABM, sponsored content, and event promotion â driving efficient new user and pipeline acquisition across SMB and enterprise segments.
- Define and manage channel investment strategy, ensuring spend is allocated to the highest-return opportunities and adjusted in response to performance signals in real time.
- Build and scale an ABM capability in close partnership with Sales, SDR and the broader marketing function, identifying and targeting highâvalue accounts with tailored messaging and channel strategies.
- Partner with Marketing Data Science and Ops to establish rigorous measurement frameworks across conversion rates, pipeline contribution, and ARR impact â and use these insights to drive continuous optimisation.
- Champion a culture of experimentation: design and run structured tests across creative, audience, bidding strategy and landing experience, translating results into scalable playbooks.
- Integrated Campaigns
- Lead a team of campaign managers functioning as campaign architects across DeepL's core product pillars â Language AI, Voice, and API â translating product and commercial priorities into pipeline-generating, revenue-driving integrated campaign programmes.
- Own campaign-sourced and influenced pipeline targets and contribution to ARR, ensuring programmes are designed to drive measurable impact across the full funnel â from demand creation through to qualified pipeline and closed revenue.
- Ensure campaigns are tightly coordinated across paid, owned and earned channels, with clear conversion goals, funnel progression metrics, and revenue attribution models in place to optimize performance from awareness through to deal acceleration.
- Partner closely with Product Marketing, Sales, Customer teams and Creative Studio to develop campaign strategies, briefs, assets and messaging frameworks that drive high-intent demand, increase win rates, and shorten sales cycles across both technical buyers and business decision-makers.
- Align campaign planning with sales targets, regional quotas, and GTM priorities, ensuring strong sales adoption, pipeline followâup, and feedback loops to maximize conversion and ARR impact.
- Own the campaign calendar and execution across global markets, with rigorous performance tracking against pipeline, conversion rates, CAC, and ROI, and clear accountability for results.
- Continuously optimise campaign performance using data-driven experimentation (A/B testing, channel mix, messaging, segmentation) to improve pipeline quality, velocity, and revenue efficiency.
- Evolve the campaign team's operating model to support a scalable, repeatable demand generation engine, aligned to DeepL's growth targets and expanding product portfolio.
- Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing team of performance marketers and campaign managers, fostering a culture of accountability, curiosity and commercial rigour.
- Serve as the key marketing partner to SDR, Sales, Product and Demand Gen leadership â aligning campaign and performance activity to pipeline targets and revenue objectives.
- Represent performance and campaign marketing at senior leadership level, clearly articulating strategy, results and investment rationale.
What You'll Bring
- 12â15 years of experience in performance marketing and/or integrated campaign management, with significant time spent in B2B SaaS â ideally within a global scaleâup of 500+ employees.
- Demonstrated success leading and scaling multi-channel paid acquisition programmes across paid search, paid social, display and ABM in both self-serve and enterprise-assisted sales environments.
- Strong AI literacy, with handsâon experience leveraging AI tools and frameworks to scale demand generation, campaign execution, and performance optimisation â including use cases across content generation, audience segmentation, media optimisation, and workflow automation.
- Proven ability to embed AI into marketing operating models, driving efficiency gains, faster experimentation cycles, and improved pipeline and revenue outcomes.
- Experience leading and developing a team of 5+ marketers, with a track record of building strong team cultures and upskilling teams in AI-enabled ways of working.
- Deep familiarity with the B2B buying cycle â including the interplay between product-led growth, self-service revenue and assisted enterprise sales motions.
- Exceptional analytical skills: you are comfortable defining KPIs, interpreting data and using insights to influence strategy and investment decisions at the leadership level, including applying AI-driven insights and predictive models.
- Strong cross-functional instincts â you are a natural collaborator who can align diverse stakeholders around shared priorities, including driving adoption of AI-powered approaches across Marketing, Sales, and Product teams.
- Excellent project management capabilities, with the ability to maintain clarity and momentum across multiple simultaneous campaigns and workstreams, leveraging automation and AI to increase speed and scale.
