What sets us apartWhat sets us apart is our blend of cutting-edge AI technology, meaningful work, and a culture where people truly thrive. This might be because of our technology that helps millions of people and businesses communicate and work better every day, or because of the trust, curiosity, and care that shape our culture. What we know for sure is this: being part of DeepL means joining a team dedicated to innovation, growth, and well-being. Meet the TeamThe Acceleration team is a software engineering function within DeepL's Enterprise organisation, responsible for the internal platforms and automation that power DeepL's commercial operations. We own the systems that keep our commercial workflows running reliably, and we build the tooling that lets teams across the business move faster and operate more independently. We work closely with GTM, Sales, Finance, Product, and platform engineering, and we hold a high bar for quality in a domain where reliability and data integrity matter.Your ResponsibilitiesOwn the engineering delivery of the team — set the pace, hold the bar, and remove blockers to ensure consistent, predictable output across active development and ongoing system ownership.Partner with Product and commercial stakeholders to define and maintain a prioritised roadmap, balancing strategic product investment against the steady-state ownership of a critical internal tooling estate.Build and develop a high-performing team — hire deliberately, onboard engineers with care, grow talent through structured development conversations, and manage performance directly when needed.Represent your team's delivery health and technical direction to senior stakeholders across the business, establishing yourself as a credible engineering partner to leadership.Maintain technical engagement at the right level: make sound architectural trade-off decisions, enable your engineers to do their best work, and stay close enough to the system to identify risk early.Drive cross-functional alignment across GTM, Sales, Finance, Product, and platform engineering — build the working relationships that reduce friction and unlock fast, independent delivery.Identify and escalate risks early, with a clear point of view on what needs to change.Qualities We Look ForProven track record as an Engineering Manager with direct line management of engineers building complex software products in a fast-moving environment.Strong delivery instincts — you have established or rebuilt delivery cadences on teams that needed them, and you know how to maintain velocity when priorities shift.Technical credibility: you engage comfortably in architectural and system design conversations, your engineers trust your technical judgement, and you are not a pure process manager.Experience navigating cross-functional stakeholder complexity — you translate engineering trade-offs into commercial language and push back constructively on scope creep.A background in B2B SaaS or any environment where engineering decisions have direct commercial or operational impact is welcome. What we offerDiverse and internationally distributed team: joining our team means becoming part of a large, global community with people of more than 90 nationalities.
