DeepL's Legal team is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Go-to-Market (GtM) Legal team. As a Senior Legal Counsel at DeepL, you will work closely with our GtM Legal team, the wider GtM team and other legal professionals and stakeholders worldwide with a focus on EMEA to provide critical support and assistance across a range of legal matters. Your responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate a variety of complex B2B commercial agreements, including SaaS, MSA, DPAs.
- Work on public sector and agentic AI (DeepL Agent) matters.
- Provide the GtM team with experienced advice on a wide variety of complex commercial legal matters, identify risks throughout the customer lifecycle process and suggest pragmatic solutions.
- Support the improvement of internal processes within the GtM organisation.
- Develop and maintain the templates of the GtM Legal team.
- Draft and conduct training and self-help materials and guidelines for both the GtM and the GtM Legal team as well as other key stakeholders in the organization worldwide.
Qualities we look for:
- You are a fully qualified UK or German counsel or comparable with at least seven years of experience working in internal legal departments (preferably in a technology company).
- You understand the challenges of a fast-growing company.
- You have experience in reviewing and negotiating B2B contracts and SaaS contracts as well as negotiating them confidently.
- You possess good knowledge of UK and German law, preferably also experience with contracts under US or Japanese law.
- You have excellent communication skills with different target groups (especially GtM team) and hierarchical levels.
- You are able to prioritize and organize your workload according to risks and company requirements in time-sensitive matters.
- You are willing to work in a highly demanding, fast-changing and fast-paced environment.
- You bring a business mindset, openness, and problem-solving skills.
- You are excited to work with new technologies both for our customers but also within the legal team.
- You are a team player with an independent approach to work and social skills.
- Fluency in English, any additional (e.g., German) language skills are an advantage.
