Job Summary
The DevOps Engineer is a hands-on engineering role within the Platform Engineering team, responsible for supporting and evolving DeepHealth's AWS-based infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD tooling, and operational processes. Working closely with the Senior Platform Engineer, this role focuses on infrastructure automation, cloud operations, platform reliability, and continuous improvement. The DevOps Engineer plays an important part in helping development teams deliver software efficiently while ensuring that DeepHealth's infrastructure remains secure, scalable, and resilient.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tooling (Terraform or equivalent), ensuring consistency, repeatability, and version control.
- Manage and improve Kubernetes platforms (EKS or similar), including cluster configuration, scaling, upgrades, and reliability.
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines to support fast, reliable software delivery across development teams.
- Monitor platform health and performance, respond to incidents, and drive root cause analysis and resolution to maintain high availability.
- Automate operational processes and repetitive tasks to reduce toil and improve team efficiency.
- Implement and maintain cloud security best practices including IAM policies, network security, secrets management, and vulnerability scanning.
- Support development teams with platform tooling, onboarding to infrastructure services, and resolving environment-level issues.
- Manage container image pipelines and registry, including security scanning and lifecycle management.
- Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of infrastructure, processes, runbooks, and architectural decisions.
- Contribute to cost monitoring and optimisation across cloud services, identifying inefficiencies and recommending improvements.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (required).
- 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure role (required).
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, and related) (required).
- Experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments (required).
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent (required).
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform (required).
- Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar for automation (required).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and VPNs (required).
- Security-conscious approach to infrastructure design and operations (required).
- Preferred: Experience with observability and monitoring tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar).
- Preferred: Familiarity with GitOps practices and tooling (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux).
- Preferred: AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect).
- Preferred: Experience in a regulated industry such as healthcare or finance.
