Role Description: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Closed Bell Diving Instructor to deliver high-quality training for the DEEP Closed Bell Diver Course. This role is central to ensuring training is delivered in accordance with UK HSE Closed Bell training requirements and DEEP Institute standards, maintaining the highest levels of safety, professionalism, and instructional quality.
You will deliver both classroom-based and practical training, guiding trainees through all aspects of closed bell diving operations using established training materials and best practices. The role requires a strong commitment to developing others, ensuring candidates gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to operate safely in a commercial saturation diving environment. This is a hands-on instructional role suited to an experienced commercial saturation diver who enjoys sharing expertise, mentoring others, and contributing to a collaborative training environment. You will work closely with internal teams to ensure a consistently high standard of delivery and an exceptional training experience for all participants.
Key Responsibilities: include but are not limited to:
- Training Delivery
- Deliver high-quality classroom and practical instruction for the Closed Bell Diver Training Course.
- Teach core subject areas including:
- Closed bell diving theory
- Saturation diving principles
- Life support systems
- Bell operations
- Emergency response procedures
- Decompression procedures
- Diving equipment and systems
- Conduct practical training exercises within the closed bell diving system.
- Deliver demonstrations and supervise trainee exercises in a safe, controlled, and effective manner.
- Assessment & Competency
- Assess trainee knowledge, performance, and overall competence.
- Conduct written, oral, and practical assessments in line with course requirements.
- Provide structured feedback and developmental coaching to support trainee progression.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records and assessment documentation.
- Safety & Operational Compliance
- Ensure all training is delivered safely and in full compliance with:
- UK HSE Diving at Work Regulations
- DEEP Diving Safety Management System
- Relevant industry guidance and standards
- Conduct risk assessments and deliver safety briefings prior to all practical activities.
- Support the wider Diving Team in maintaining high standards of diving safety and operational readiness.
- Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to course reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Complete and maintain training records in accordance with internal procedures and external regulatory requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Logged experience in commercial saturation diving operations
- Experience working within regulated commercial diving environments
- Strong understanding of:
- Saturation diving physiology

Education & Professional Qualifications:
- Qualified Commercial Diver – Closed Bell / Saturation Diver
- Recognised commercial diving certification (e.g. HSE Part I / equivalent)
- Willing to develop their instructional qualifications (if none held)
- Valid diving medical certificate for commercial diving
