DEEP is an international design and engineering company on a mission to make humans aquatic. We’re doing this by advancing ocean exploration through the development of new technologies that will enable humans to live and work in underwater environments for longer periods of time.
The Workshop & Systems Technician is responsible for ensuring that all portable and fixed diving equipment, together with associated subsea and marine assets, are maintained, repaired, tested, and commissioned in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and operational schedules.
This will involve working closely with Operations, Projects, Logistics, and Engineering teams to coordinate inspection, servicing, fault diagnosis, certification, and readiness of equipment to meet operational demands.
The Workshop & Systems Technician will ensure that all maintenance activities are accurately documented, that equipment status is clearly recorded and communicated, and that assets meet the required safety and compliance standards prior to release for use.
The key outcome is the safe, reliable, and efficient availability of equipment, supporting operational readiness and ensuring assets remain compliant, serviceable, and fit for purpose at all times.
Undertake inspection, maintenance, repair, and functional testing of a wide range of equipment, including:
- High pressure gas systems
- Marine equipment
- Manned submersibles
- Training equipment
- Workshop assets
Carry out planned maintenance routines and support development of maintenance schedules. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and system faults. Maintain accurate documentation, service reports, and asset records. Support mobilisation/demobilisation of diving equipment and associated equipment used in operations and training. Ensure workshop cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with safety standards. Adhere to established procedures and regulatory standards for diving equipment. Work collaboratively with training, engineering, operational, facilities and safety teams across the campus. Contribute to continuous improvement of workshop processes and asset reliability.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, service manuals, and system schematics. Good understanding of safe systems of work, risk assessments, and workshop safety. Competent using tools, test equipment, and workshop machinery. Safety focused mindset with commitment to quality. Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn new technical skills working toward Continuous Personal & Professional Development. Strong communication skills across diverse engineering/technical/operations teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
A time served (minimum NVQ level 3) engineering/technical apprenticeship or HNC in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, marine, or similar engineering/technical discipline.
