We’re looking for a Cloud SRE who can work independently and within a team, with strong skills in one or more object-oriented languages (PHP, Golang, NodeJS/TypeScript, or C#) and web technologies (TypeScript, HTML, CSS). You’ll have hands-on experience building monitoring solutions, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure, along with the ability to communicate effectively across requirements, design, development, and testing.
You’ll primarily contribute to DSE’s IoT platform (DSE WebNet), alongside developing supporting tools and business systems. Our products operate in the energy control and automation space, supporting applications from generator sets and renewables to microgrids and off-highway machinery.
We’re looking for a proactive engineer with a strong track record in problem-solving and delivering high-quality, standards-compliant software and infrastructure. You’ll follow established processes while helping improve them, working within a multidisciplinary team. A passion for innovative technology is key. This role offers the opportunity to deepen your expertise in industrial controls, IoT systems, and cloud-native practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Capture software and infrastructure requirements from project inception
- Ensure platform reliability, security, safety, and compliance standards
- Design and maintain monitoring, alerting, and dashboards (Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
- Own SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets for the DSE WebNet IoT platform
- Provision and manage cloud infrastructure (GCP, Azure, AWS) using Terraform/Ansible
- Design and manage cloud networking (VPCs, load balancers, DNS, firewalls)
- Run containerised workloads with Docker and Kubernetes, including optimisation and lifecycle management
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions from commit to production
- Drive SDLC automation, replacing manual processes with scalable workflows
- Develop platform tooling/services in PHP, Golang, NodeJS (TypeScript), or C#
- Maintain MQTT brokers and WebSocket/HTTP APIs for WebNet
- Stay current with IoT technologies and recommend practical improvements
- Promote best practices through design and code reviews
- Maintain strong Git discipline and version control standards
- Support releases through testing, production, and deployment
- Produce clear, professional documentation across the lifecycle
- Participate in on-call rotation and lead post-incident reviews with actionable outcomes
- Proficiency in one or more of PHP, Golang, NodeJS (TypeScript) or C#
- Proficiency in MySQL or NoSQL fundamentals
- API design and programming (JSON/REST)
- Proficient user of Git for source control management
- Understanding of IoT technologies and protocols such as MQTT and edge devices
- WebSocket and HTTP fundamentals
- Accustomed to breaking down tasks for more accurate estimates of effort
- Used to working in a high-pace environment
- Enthusiastic and optimistic with a genuine passion for cloud-native and IoT technology
- Strong communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Docker and Kubernetes in a production environment
- Infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and/or Ansible
- CI/CD pipeline development with GitHub Actions
- Experience with one or more of GCP, Microsoft Azure or AWS
- Understanding of networking in a high availability environment
- Hypervisor setup, configuration and management (vSphere/ESXi)
- Linux server setup and health monitoring (CentOS/Rocky Linux or other RedHat-based distro)
