Deep Sea Electronics is one of the world’s top manufacturers of generator controllers, auto transfer switch controllers, battery chargers and vehicle & off-highway controllers. We employ over 200 people across four continents and sell our products to 150 countries directly from our UK head office and through our comprehensive distributor network.
The successful candidate will join the production test development team, a small team that designs and manufactures our product test equipment. As the business continues to grow, new products are developed on-site. As a mechanical design engineer, we design, build, wire, and develop the software for all test fixtures that go into production. These fixtures test every unit functionally before it leaves the business.
A relevant apprentice programme will be provided alongside the successful candidate’s role. The candidate will be required to attend college one day per week. Following completion of the initial course, further academic development opportunities will be available, including progression up to degree level.
Requirements
- Basic MS Office skills
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Organisational skills
- Minimum Grade: 4/C in the following subjects – English, Mathematics and Science
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic attitude
- Ability to operate under own initiative as well as possessing strong team working skills
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Design a test fixture to house one of DSE’s controllers so we can fully functionally test the unit
- Create BOMs
- Create assembly drawings
- From the 3-D design create CNC programs from the individual parts
- Operate flatbed CNC machine
- 3D print test parts
- Assemble parts, if needed
- Design or modify a Deepsea module case, if needed
- Design and manufacture jigs to aid production during the build process
