Deep Medical helps healthcare systems treat more patients by recovering capacity that would otherwise be lost. Our mission is to solve that problem through Healthcare Capacity Intelligence, a new category of AI-powered infrastructure that helps healthcare organisations identify, recover and redeploy capacity before it is lost. Our platform continuously analyses operational data, predicts opportunities to recover capacity, resulting in shorter waiting times, improved utilisation of clinical resources and better outcomes for patients.
We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help architect, build and scale the core platform powering Deep Medical's products. You'll work across distributed systems, healthcare data infrastructure, APIs and AI-powered services partnering closely with CS, product and machine learning teams to bring new capabilities into production.
- Design and build scalable backend services and APIs powering AI-driven healthcare applications.
- Architect systems capable of processing large volumes of sensitive healthcare data securely and reliably.
- Build the platform infrastructure that enables Healthcare Capacity Intelligence at scale.
- Collaborate with ML to productionise models and integrate AI capabilities into robust, observable services.
- Own system reliability, performance and operational excellence through monitoring, alerting and observability.
- As we grow, mentor engineers and help raise the quality and effectiveness of engineering across the organisation.
Requirements:
- 5+ years building backend systems in production environments.
- Strong experience with ideally either Python or TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of databases, data modelling and system design.
- Experience building and maintaining APIs (REST, GraphQL and/or gRPC).
- Experience with AWS.
- Experience taking technical ownership of systems and driving projects from design through to production.
- Experience deploying and operating ML or AI systems in production.
- Experience with Django Framework.
- Familiarity with GDPR, information security and compliance frameworks.
