We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Administrator to join our growing manufacturing business. The role will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the HR Manager across the employee lifecycle, whilst also supporting end-to-end payroll processing for both salaried and hourly paid employees in the UK and the US.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is highly organised, confidential, and comfortable working in a fast-paced SME environment.
Responsibilities – HR Administration- Support the HR Manager with day-to-day HR administration across the UK and US workforce acting as a trusted administrative partner.
- Support line managers through the early stages of recruitment, including finalising job descriptions, posting vacancies, and managing candidate applications via the recruitment system.
- Administer new starter and leaver processes, including contracts, right to work checks, onboarding, and exit documentation both for UK and US entities.
- Maintain accurate employee records in line with GDPR and data protection requirements.
- Support absence management administration, including sickness and holiday tracking.
- Assist with benefits administration and pension scheme communications.
- Coordinate training records and support performance review administration.
- Provide administrative support for employee relations processes as required.
- Support HR initiatives including the employee lifecycle, engagement and pulse surveys and policy development and implementation.
- Contribute to process improvements, automation and standardisation across UK and US HR operations.
- Assist with HR reporting and metrics.
- Process accurate and timely monthly payroll for UK employees, including salaried and hourly paid staff.
- Process payroll inputs for US employees, liaising with external payroll providers as required.
- Review and prepare timesheet reports for the purpose of processing payroll.
- Ensure correct calculation of overtime, shift premiums, bonuses, statutory payments, and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with UK PAYE, NI, pensions including auto enrolment and other statutory requirements.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure data accuracy across HR and payroll systems supporting payroll audits.
- Respond to employee payroll queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Prepare payroll reports and reconciliation for finance and management.
- Support year-end activities including P60s, P11Ds, and audits.
- Proven experience in payroll administration, including hourly and salaried payroll.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
- Experience supporting HR administration activities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Confident handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and HR/payroll systems.
- Strong communication skills with employees at all levels.
- Reliable, proactive, and solution focused.
- Exposure to US payroll processing and employment administration.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or SME environment.
- CIPP qualification or working towards it.
- Knowledge of pension auto-enrolment systems.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team.
- Adaptable, and willing to support across HR and payroll as business needs evolve.
