Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Manual Milling/Lathe Machinist to join our team in Chadderton. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for producing high-quality parts and components using manual milling machines and lathes.

  • Operate manual milling machines and lathes to produce precision parts according to specifications
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders
  • Set up machines, select appropriate tooling, and adjust machine parameters for each job
  • Perform precise measurements using various tools to ensure parts meet quality standards
  • Calculate and set cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths of cut for optimal machining
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on machinery
  • Collaborate with engineers and other machinists to improve processes and solve technical issues
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work and machine operation logs

Qualifications

Essential

  • Time served on manual millers
  • Experience in a production environment
  • Engineering background
  • Ability to utilise manual measurement equipment

Desirable

  • Operatation of manual lathes (Capston, Hardinge or Colchester)
  • Willingness to learn how to operate a lathe
