Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Manual Milling/Lathe Machinist to join our team in Chadderton. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for producing high-quality parts and components using manual milling machines and lathes.
- Operate manual milling machines and lathes to produce precision parts according to specifications
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders
- Set up machines, select appropriate tooling, and adjust machine parameters for each job
- Perform precise measurements using various tools to ensure parts meet quality standards
- Calculate and set cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths of cut for optimal machining
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on machinery
- Collaborate with engineers and other machinists to improve processes and solve technical issues
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and machine operation logs
Qualifications
Essential
- Time served on manual millers
- Experience in a production environment
- Engineering background
- Ability to utilise manual measurement equipment
Desirable
- Operatation of manual lathes (Capston, Hardinge or Colchester)
- Willingness to learn how to operate a lathe
