About the role
Most teams use AI as a faster way for humans to build products. At Deel, we want to go further: build the system that lets AI build the products, with humans defining the taste, the guardrails, and the standards it works within. That system is your product. You design and build the substrate AI generates against: the design system and component architecture, the generation and agent workflows, the quality gates that keep AI output production-ready, and the feedback loops that keep everything visible to the team.
What you will do
- Build the system that lets AI build products - Architect the design system, tokens, and components as the substrate AI generates against.
- Design hands-on to prove it - Stay a practicing designer. Explore concepts quickly, design real interfaces, and prototype in production front-end code.
- Own quality, guardrails, and evals - Define production-readiness criteria for AI-generated UI, design-to-code fidelity benchmarks, regression safeguards, and evaluation methods.
- Drive the AI workflow across the design org - Partner directly with design leadership to maintain, evolve, and roll out the AI-native workflow.
- Work cross-functionally - Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and design-system contributors.
- Push into generative UI - Prototype and evaluate adaptive, AI-generated interfaces as a product capability.
- Level up the team - Turn what works into playbooks, prompt libraries, and enablement.
What we are looking for
- You move fluidly between design and code.
- Real taste for layout, typography, interaction, motion; you care about polish.
- Comfortable writing TypeScript/React (HTML, CSS, animation included).
- Built or extended design systems others rely on.
- 7+ years in product design + front-end engineering in complex products.

How to prepare for a job interview at Deel
✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills
For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.
✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks
Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Deel uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.
✨Showcase Your Projects
Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.
✨Prepare for Behavioural Questions
While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
