This work includes line managing staff, providing expert data protection and information governance advice to internal staff and external partners, leading on information security incident investigations, managing data protection complaints, establishing information sharing agreements, overseeing individual rights requests, etc.

This is a hybrid role that ideally requires a minimum of 1 day in our Worcester based offices – although we would prefer 2 days to align with attendance of other staff members.

An Information Governance Manager will support our Public Health Service with information governance work, including leading on information sharing agreements, privacy notices, data protection impact assessments and providing expert advice. All the other tasks mentioned above will likely be required as part of the role, but this one is focused on supporting a specific area of the Council (Public Health) and helping them prepare for local government reorganisation. This is a 3 month placement with an opportunity to extend beyond that.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the end-to-end management of complex information rights requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and UK GDPR, ensuring legally robust responses within statutory deadlines.
  • Provide specialist advice to academic departments and professional services on information rights matters, assessing exemptions and making disclosure decisions.
  • Manage high-profile and sensitive requests, liaising with senior leadership and external stakeholders to ensure reputational and legal risks are effectively managed.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of information governance processes, identifying opportunities to strengthen compliance and operational efficiency.
