Project Overview
You will be working on technically complex projects across the UK water and wastewater sector, including:
- UMON upgrade schemes at sewage treatment works
- Pumped storm storage schemes at CSOs and sewage treatment works
Key Responsibilities
- Produce mechanical design deliverables that meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare detailed design calculations and drawings for water industry projects
- Direct, mentor, and develop CAD technicians, junior designers, and graduate engineers
- Prepare scopes of work for subcontract mechanical and electrical design teams and review their outputs
- Liaise with equipment suppliers and manufacturers to develop technical solutions
- Prepare design investigations, technical reports, and specifications
- Ensure designs comply with relevant technical, professional, and industry standards
- Ensure all design changes are fully implemented and formally recorded
- Estimate design hours for project delivery and support project planning
- Attend and present at design meetings, reviews, and technical workshops
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years relevant design experience within the UK water industry
- Significant experience in hydraulic design
- Good awareness of electrical design and control systems
- Degree or HND qualification, or equivalent experience
- Strong IT skills and experience using engineering design tools
- Registered with a relevant professional body and working towards chartership
