- Day Rate negotiable OUTSIDE IR35
- Permanent salary £45,000 to £55,000
Working Arrangements
- Occasional site visits with travel expenses paid
- Working from home available on an occasional basis by prior agreement
- Hybrid working option of one or two days per week for a strong candidate
Project Overview
You will be working on a range of projects across the UK water and wastewater sector, including:
- UMON schemes at sewage treatment works
- Pumped storm storage at CSOs and sewage treatment works
- New build pumping stations and new sewage treatment works
Key Responsibilities
- Produce mechanical design deliverables that meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare mechanical design calculations and drawings for water industry projects
- Direct and support CAD technicians
- Prepare scopes of work for subcontract mechanical and electrical design teams and review their outputs
- Liaise with equipment suppliers and manufacturers, prepare technical specifications, and review tender responses
- Prepare design investigations, technical reports, and specifications
- Ensure designs comply with relevant technical, professional, and industry standards
- Ensure all design changes are fully implemented and formally recorded
- Estimate design hours for project delivery
- Attend and present at design meetings and project reviews
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years mechanical design experience within the UK water industry
- Degree, HND, or equivalent experience from technician level
- Strong IT skills and experience using engineering design tools
- Registered with a relevant professional body and working towards chartership
