Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric / Azure
£60,000 | 2-Year Fixed-Term Contract | North East | Hybrid
Deekay Recruitment is working with a large, established organisation in the North East to recruit an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join its Data & Technology function.
This is a hands‑on senior position with responsibility for designing, building and improving the organisation's data infrastructure. You'll work across modern Microsoft data technologies, developing scalable data pipelines, data models and warehouse/lakehouse solutions that provide reliable, high-quality data for analytics and reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines from multiple data sources.
- Develop and maintain data models, schemas, data warehouses and lakehouse solutions.
- Work within a modern Microsoft/Azure data environment, including Microsoft Fabric.
- Develop datasets and models to support Power BI and analytics.
- Improve data quality, reliability, automation and performance.
- Contribute to data architecture and technical design decisions.
- Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand data requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the team.
- Ensure appropriate data governance, security and GDPR standards are maintained.
We're particularly interested in candidates with experience across:
- Microsoft Fabric and/or the wider Azure data ecosystem
- SQL
- Azure Data Factory / Synapse / Databricks
- ETL/ELT and data pipeline development
- Data warehousing and Lakehouse architectures
- Dimensional/data modelling
- Python/PySpark
- Power BI data models
- Data quality and governance
This role would suit an established Senior Data Engineer, Lead Data Engineer or experienced Azure Data Engineer who enjoys remaining hands‑on while taking greater ownership of technical direction and solution design.
Location: North East – hybrid working with office attendance required across Newcastle and County Durham.
Salary: £60,000
Contract: 2-year fixed-term contract
