We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Manager to provide short- to medium-term support within our estates team, focusing specifically on statutory compliance, remedial repair management, and CAFM-based task oversight. This is a supplementary role to support our current team member, with a view to potentially leading on mechanical compliance and delivery.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong experience in mechanical estates maintenance (not electrical – this is strictly a mechanical role).
  • Demonstrable CAFM system proficiency (preferably Archibus/Concerto or similar) – must be able to manage and track statutory tasks, remedials, and contractor allocation via the system.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of statutory and industry standards, including:
  • SFG20
  • LOLER, PUWER, HTM standards (if applicable)
  • Understanding of insurance defect management and planned preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Professional Membership (e.g. CIBSE or IMechE) – essential.
  • Recent (within 4 years) CPD evidence required.
  • Minimum qualification: HNC in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • We are not looking for legacy-experience-only candidates (e.g. engineers who trained decades ago without maintaining knowledge or professional development).
  • Must be capable of working in a university, healthcare, or complex campus environment with high compliance expectations.
  • This role is compliance-first, with responsibility for progressing outstanding remedial actions, supporting contractor oversight, and raising performance in statutory areas. Initial focus will be on bridging current gaps while longer-term arrangements are reviewed.
