We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Session Leaders to plan and deliver a variety of fun, engaging, and safe sessions for young people aged 11–18.
Organisation: Thrive 2Gether Youth & Community Centre
Location: Watford (with potential expansion to surrounding areas)
Hours: Flexible – evenings and weekends (typically 2 hours per session)
Reporting to: Youth Programmes Coordinator
Role Overview
As a Session Leader, you will play a key role in creating positive experiences where young people can build confidence, develop new skills, make friends, and feel supported. Sessions may include sports, creative activities, life skills, games, bike rides, discussions, and youth-led ideas. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in young people’s lives while gaining valuable experience in youth work.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging sessions for young people
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants
- Build positive relationships with young people and encourage their input
- Support young people to develop confidence, skills, and independence
- Ensure all activities comply with Thrive 2Gether’s safeguarding and health & safety policies
- Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff
- Help with session set‑up and tidy‑up
- Promote Thrive 2Gether’s values of respect, inclusivity, positivity, and empowerment
Person Specification
- Passionate about working with young people (11–18 years)
- Energetic, positive, and approachable personality
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
- Reliable and punctual
- Valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Valid First Aid certificate (or willingness to complete one)
- Experience working or volunteering with young people (youth clubs, coaching, mentoring, teaching, etc.)
- Skills or interests in specific areas (sports, arts & crafts, music, bike rides, cooking, personal development, etc.)
- Ability to lead and manage group activities confidently
- Knowledge of the local area (Watford, Hertsmere, Three Rivers)
