We are looking for Retail Volunteers to assist us Monday-Sunday in our Hoddesdon Clearance Shop on the High Street. If you have a few hours to spare each week and would like to help out in our shop, we’d love to hear from you! This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and make a meaningful impact. Our shops play a crucial role in raising funds to support the essential services of Isabel Hospice.
As a Retail Assistant, you will support and assist the team in maximising the shop's income by ensuring the shop floor is fully stocked and properly merchandised, and customers are served efficiently. We ask you to commit to at least one regular half-day weekly session. We have the following sessions available:
- AM: 9am - 1pm
- PM: 1pm - 5pm
We are urgently looking for Volunteers to assist on Saturday and Sunday. Alternative time slots can be arranged in agreement with the Shop Manager.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing the highest standard of service to customers
- Keeping the shop fully stocked and ensuring items are displayed to show them at their best
- Operating tills and taking payments
- Ensuring both stock and cash security procedures are always followed
- Contributing to keeping the shop and premises clean and tidy
- Providing support and guidance to new volunteers to help them settle into their roles
- Promoting the public’s understanding of the work of Isabel Hospice and the importance of raising funds through the shop
- Raising awareness of Gift Aid to our customers
- Promoting and applying the Isabel Hospice Health & Safety Policy

Am I eligible to volunteer?
We ask that our volunteers are:
- At least 18 years old
- Live within an easy commute to the area
- Interested in volunteering for at least 6 months for at least 3 hours per week

Please note this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. Isabel Hospice is a local charity and each year we care for hundreds of people across eastern Hertfordshire. All our care is free and can be provided in your home, at our community hubs or our In-Patient Unit. Most of the people we care for have cancer, however, we are also increasingly caring for people with other life-limiting conditions.
