Drawing Voices are an arts organisation that collaborate with communities to address loneliness, ill health, and disadvantage. We design and deliver arts projects, with and for community partners.
We are looking for warm, reliable volunteers to support a small creative team across two sessions of collaborative arts workshops with a dementia group and their carers. This role is ideal for someone with experience of dementia, additional needs, or any kind of care and an interest in people, their stories, and creative wellbeing.
Volunteers will be part of the sessions alongside participants and carers, offering hands-on support as needed. This might include adjusting ergonomic support on a paint brush, supporting exploration of tactile props for storytelling, or facilitating conversation around the themes of the session.
In 2024, our team created The Ripple Effect - Connecting with Dementia, a 4.5m collaborative textile artwork with an accompanying soundscape and audio trail. In 2026, we will be developing a pop-up storytelling performance inspired by ongoing conversations and creative workshops with our dementia groups.
We are ideally looking for volunteers who can commit to both sessions at one location, to provide continuity and build trust with the group. Transport costs can be covered. If you’re kind, patient, and interested in people, creativity, and working alongside those living with dementia and their carers, we’d love to hear from you.
