Hertfordshire Family Support Service is seeking volunteers for various roles and locations to support the service led by One YMCA.
Detailed description
The Universal, SEND, and Emerging Needs Activity Volunteer plays a key role in supporting the team with courses and family activities for parents, carers, families, and children (0-5 years). We are looking for friendly, hands-on individuals interested in early years, to welcome families, support engagement, and promote children\’s development through indoor and outdoor group activities.
Roles Based in St Albans
Days/Times/Locations
- Thursday 10-11.30am Baby Group at Marlborough Methodist Church
- Friday 10-11am Physical Fun at Sopwell Family Centre
- Friday 1-2.30pm Baby Group at London Colney Family Centre
Main Tasks
- Meet and greet families, ensuring they feel valued and comfortable.
- Assist with setup and tidying, like arranging tables and chairs.
- Support staff by explaining session activities and signing families in.
- Engage with families during sessions.
- Assist with surveys, feedback, and child voice initiatives.
Skills, Experience, and Qualities Needed
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
- Friendly approach and confidentiality.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently.
Session Descriptions
Baby Group (pre-walkers)
A friendly environment for families with young babies to play, discover development, and support wellbeing. Drop-in, no booking required.
Active Rhyme Time (0-5 years) – Little Herts Session
Enjoy active rhymes and songs to develop communication and physical skills. Siblings welcome. Drop-in, no booking required.
Physical Fun (18 months +) – Little Herts Session
A fun, active session supporting physical development. Siblings welcome. Drop-in, no booking required.
