Summary
Hertfordshire Family Support Service is seeking volunteers across various roles and locations to support the service led by One YMCA.
Detailed description
The Universal, SEND, and Emerging Needs Activity Volunteer plays a key role in supporting the team in delivering courses and family activities for parents, carers, families, and children aged 0-5 years. We are looking for friendly, proactive individuals interested in early years to welcome families, support engagement in activities, and promote children\’s development through indoor and outdoor group sessions.
Role based in South Oxhey Family Centre
Days & Times / Sessions
Monday 10am-11.30am Baby Group
Friday 10am-11am Active Rhyme Time
Main Tasks Could Include:
- Greeting families upon arrival, ensuring they feel valued and comfortable.
- Assisting with setup and tidying, such as arranging tables and chairs.
- Supporting staff by explaining session activities and managing sign-in procedures.
- Engaging with families during sessions.
- Assisting with surveys, feedback, and gathering child voice.
- Taking on specific roles within sessions as assigned.
Skills, Experience, and Qualities Needed:
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
- Friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Capability to work well both in a team and independently.
Session Descriptions:
Baby Group (pre-walkers)
A friendly environment for families with young babies, focusing on play, development, and parental wellbeing. Drop-in, no booking required.
Active Rhyme Time (0-5 years)
Engaging rhymes and songs for babies and toddlers to develop communication and physical skills. Siblings welcome. Drop-in, no booking required.
